Biased View of the World

Imagine a sheet of pure white canvas. You are drawing a portrait of a boy and a girl.

Do you color the boy in blue because he is a boy?

Do you color the girl in pink because she is a girl?

As blue isn’t just for the boys and pink isn’t just for the girls, the world needs to break up the biased view about gender.

Understanding about gender equality will blend the colors together no matter what gender they are. It will visualize the image of the girl wearing blue and the boy wearing pink.

Collaborate with us to absorb deeper the complexities involved in gender equality and learn how to assist girls and women throughout the world on their quest for broader opportunities.

Unit 4 Reflection Name: Katie Lee
Global Issues Reflection

  • Enduring Understanding: Responsible choices are part of being a global citizen.
  • Essential Question: How does one participate in global citizenship and why is it important?

  1. Based upon your prior knowledge and current studies develop a response to the essential question that includes topic sentences and details with examples. Place your response below using as much space as you need to form a complete answer.

-One participates in global citizenship by having interests to global issues. For instance, people can visit websites of organizations that work for global issues such as poverty. They can find informations regarding the issues and discover how important it is to sort out the problems in order to make our world a better place to live. Poverty means severe hunger that might lead to death. The lost of human life is something that everyone should care about, because every single person matters. We can do fund raising, protest in a march, or tell others about the issues so that more people understand.

-It is important to participate in global issues because, our world is severe danger. If people ignore the problems and not try to learn about them, there won’t be any difference. However, if people do care, then there will be improvements to the problems. For example, if we don’t try to reduce air pollution, and the global warming will continue, and the nature will be wrecked. If we do things about global warming, we would be able to preserve our homes.

The following spaces will need to be designed by you. Please know your scoring guide so you do not miss what is expected. The important part is this: You are showing your thinking as a researcher and your research process.

Katie's Metacognition for Website UNFPA-some people are violating women because of their stereotype that men are much better. Even though gender equality has been included as one of Millennium Development Goals, the problems still occurring. This case of inequality should be solved soon. We have been dealing with this problem for about 30 years, and yet big changes can't be found. I am very sad to find out the truth of the deepness of gender inequality.

Katie's Metacognition for Website IPPF-Saudi Arabia doesn't give women right to vote. Violence, economic discrimination is hurting women. IPPF is an organization trying to sort out this problem a bit. I admire their hard work.
