Let's help people to escape from the prison called <POVERTY>

Have you ever thought about the people who are starving and dying every seconds in earth? Have you ever had the interest to poor people? Well, if you didn't, you're a human being who just satisfy yourself with money, not thinking about others. 1.29 BILLION people lives with 1.25 dollars in one day. Fortunately, the number of poverty is keep decreasing, but still about 25,000 people die everyday because of poverty, hunger, and the things related with poverty.

Unfortunately, poverty is in everywhere. Not just in the Africa of India, America has tons of poor people and even Korea has many people who are living in poverty.

The poverty is caused by nature disasters, indifference, war, disease, drugs, etc. Actually, we cannot "STOP" poverty, we can prevent and make the situation better. What I, and most of the people who are trying hardly to prevent poverty, wants you guys to just be interested to poverty. Having an interest is very good for preventing poverty too. You can join the poverty campaign win UN. P. lease refer to my wiki and have a look. You'll get a basic idea and general information of poverty.

We must help them.
I hope you enjoy my wiki.

WEBSITES:
http://www.globalissues.org/issue/2/causes-of-poverty
I loved this site because it explained me what is poverty and lots of interesting facts of poverty- like over 3 billion people live on less than 3000 won a day. This sited was needed to use because it helped me to realize the seriousness of poverty. This quote is from website:
"1 billion children live in poverty (1 in 2 children in the world). 640 million live without adequate shelter, 400 million have no access to safe water, 270 million have no access to health services. 10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (or roughly 29,000 children per day)."

http://www.globalissues.org/article/26/poverty-facts-and-stats
This site was similar with first site, but I liked this one more because this page showed brief, but important facts of poverty. This was totally useful because it provided me lots of serious facts and made me to recognize that rich people must help people who is living in poverty. This is the quote from website:
"The poorest 40 percent of the world’s population accounts for 5 percent of global income. The richest 20 percent accounts for three-quarters of world income."

http://www.solarnavigator.net/poverty.htm
This site was kinda different with those 2 upper sites. This site actually tell me how to prevent poverty, causes of poverty, etc. , not just the information of it. Also, I got a GREAT pictures from here! This website helped me to recognize that how cruel the way people living in poverty is, and how I'm lucky that I'm living in abundant live and I must be very thankful to that. This is the quote from the website:
"In many developed countries, the official definition of poverty used for statistical purposes is based on relative income. As such many critics argue that poverty statistics measure inequality rather than material deprivation or hardship."

http://www.poverty.com/
This site was not that bad but it didn't have that much information than first or second website. But it was useful at knowing that 25,000 people die everyday.
"About 25,000 people die every day of hunger or hunger-related causes, according to the United Nations. This is one person every three and a half seconds, as you can see on this display. Unfortunately, it is children who die most often."

http://voices.yahoo.com/methods-reduce-poverty-366798.html
This site(actually, answer) was awesome for getting the methods of reducing poverty, and it had lots of information for the ways of reducing poverty.. For example:
"Poverty may never be solved. However, poverty can be reduced through people facing up to objective reality. For the most part, we get back what we give to this world. Complete and utter self responsibility is an integral key to moving out of poverty. Blaming society is only a copout. Accepting responsibility is excepting the freedom of choice."

EXCERPTS
- "Even though poverty is declining in some countries, such as China, it is still increasing in others, such as India, for example. There is too much poverty around yet to permit the world to become complacent about the problem. Thankfully, there are many organizations today that are committed to dealing with poverty on both a local and a global scale." (http://hellemanworld.blogspot.com/)
- "Children represent a disproportionate share of the poor in the United States; they are 24 percent of the total population, but 36 percent of the poor population." (http://www.npc.umich.edu/poverty/) I was terribly mad because of this quote. Is it possible that Urban government let it be?
-“There are people in the world so hungry, that God cannot appear to them except in the form of bread.” -Mahatma Gandhi
-"Approximately 700 million people in Asia and the Pacific live on less than US$1 a day, 400 million of them in urban areas. (http://www.adb.org/themes/poverty/overview)
-"Poverty is the worst form of violence.” - Mahatma Gandhi
-"The United States has long had one of the highest poverty rates in the developed world."(http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/09/13/us-usa-economy-poverty-idUSTRE78C3YV20110913)
- According to the World Bank, at the start of the twenty-first century 1.2 billion people lived in absolute poverty, a condition defined by the United Nations as "characterized by severe deprivation of basic human needs" (UN Report of the World Summit for Social Development, p. 44), including access to safe water, sanitation, food, and appropriate health care.(http://www.encyclopedia.com/topic/Poverty.aspx)

Oh man, this video almost made me cry. I was so shocked and I wasn't able to believe how the children can be that thin. This helped me to realize more correctly by photos of people who are living in poverty.

This video was about how poverty occurred, not like first one. It was TOTALLY useful for understanding the causes of poverty. This video was great because it explained me with very easy words and nice pictures that is easy to understand. Terrific!

This video was very long and the anchor's accent was not familiar to me, so I had hard time viewing it, but I viewed this several times and finally got the true meaning of this video. This video was perfect for me to get the way to prevent the poverty. Again, the accent was hard...

PHOTOS:

http://www.solarnavigator.net/poverty.htm
This picture is from the third website, but this was useful for knowing how cruel and poor that the people living in poverty lives. Can you see that dirty water which is too dirty that I cannot even see the inside? And can you see what the people wearing and those trashes? Can you see how they're living? I wasn't able to believe this even though I was looking it with my normal 2 eyes.

Poverty_percent_world_map.jpeg
http://www.solarnavigator.net/poverty.htm
This is also the picture from the third website. This photo was helpful to know the percentage and seriousness of world poverty. I wasn't able to believe that that much people in Earth is suffering by poverty, but rich people or people who are abundant enough to live don't even help them. I was shamed that I wasn't interested on how other people live in other country, which is the must-do thing of Global citizen. By this horrible, terrible, dreadful map, I finally recognized that I must help them by being a member of UN helping campaign, and the seriousness of poverty.

PovertyDataChart030912.jpgpoorbycountry.jpg
http://hellemanworld.blogspot.com/
This photo was very useful to know that people living in poverty is decreasing. I'm glad that it is decreasing, and also I'm wondering how the other Global citizen or government rescue them form the poverty? I really want to know that. But the photo in right made me sad because there were too many people in world who are living under US $1.25.

BOOK:
"Mahatma Gandhi" by Michael Nicholson, Exley Publications : Kyowon
This is Korean book, but this was very impressive about Gandhi's life which was like hero. I'm just sad that India is still poor and many people are suffering by poverty even though Gandhi effort that much. Gandhi is a real hero.
